Production Manager

San Francisco, CA

Salary:$65,000 - $70,000

Oversee production logistics for SF Pride's parade and celebration events.

San Francisco Pride is a nonprofit organization that produces the SF Pride Parade and Celebration. We are dedicated to education, celebration, and liberation for the LGBTQIA+ community and our allies.

About the position

The Production Manager is a hands-on, project-driven role ideal for someone who wants to be in the thick of bringing one of the world’s largest Pride celebrations to life. You’ll juggle multiple production workstreams, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and be on the ground making critical decisions during our events. This is an individual contributor role with significant autonomy—you’ll manage complex projects and logistics, not staff, which means you’ll build deep expertise in large-scale event production without the administrative overhead of personnel management.

You’ll be responsible for planning and executing festival and parade production elements, including vendor coordination, technical logistics, scheduling, and on-site management. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to grow their production expertise while making a tangible impact on LGBTQ+ celebration and liberation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project implementation across parade, street fair, and stages
  • Own and optimize registration systems for parade contingents (500+ entries)
  • Coordinate vendor logistics, manage site layouts, and troubleshoot on the fly
  • Oversee entertainment booking, artist logistics, and technical requirements
  • Act as primary contractor liaison during event execution and critical decision-maker on-site
  • Collaborate with community engagement, safety, and leadership teams

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • 2-4 years of experience in event production, festival operations, or project coordination
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and external partners
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Passion for creating accessible, inclusive events
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions on the ground

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with large-scale public events (festivals, parades, concerts)
  • Technical production knowledge (audio, staging, lighting)
  • Familiarity with San Francisco permitting and city logistics
  • Experience with Salesforce and other CRM tools
