Community Engagement Manager

San Francisco, CA

Salary:$65,000 - $70,000

Build and maintain community partnerships and outreach initiatives for SF Pride.

San Francisco Pride is a nonprofit organization that produces the SF Pride Parade and Celebration. We are dedicated to education, celebration, and liberation for the LGBTQIA+ community and our allies.

About the position

The Community Engagement Manager is a hands-on, project-focused role perfect for someone ready to take on significant responsibility in a dynamic nonprofit environment. You’ll work directly with community partners, lead multiple program initiatives simultaneously, and be the face of SF Pride to grassroots organizations and community members. This is an individual contributor role with high autonomy—you’ll manage projects and programs, not staff, giving you the opportunity to build expertise across community engagement, communications, and program implementation.

Starting in January, you’ll implement community programs, accessibility supports, and communications strategies, and coordinate community grants and awards programs. This role offers significant growth potential for the right candidate who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of community grants cycle and reporting processes
  • Coordinate accessibility services and manage relationships with community support contractors
  • Drive awards programs from start to finish (Grand Marshal, Heritage of Pride)
  • Own social media strategy, marketing communications, and membership engagement initiatives
  • Act as SF Pride’s primary ambassador for community inquiries and partnership opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, development, and leadership teams

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • 2-4 years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, communications, or nonprofit work
  • Strong project management skills—you can juggle multiple initiatives and keep things on track
  • Excellent writing, editing, and social media skills (you’ll be the voice of SF Pride)
  • Experience with or strong interest in grant administration and accessibility best practices
  • Passion for LGBTQ+ rights and community-centered work
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points for:

  • Lived experience in the LGBTQ+ community
  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience with event production or nonprofit operations

Salary and benefits

This position offers an annual salary of $65,000 - $70,000 along with a benefits package.
